IT Operations Engineer for Domains & Global Platform Operations (hybrid)

About the team:

The IT Operations Team in InterNetX / IONOS Group is responsible for a large set of services, the largest one being the Group Domain Reseller Platform - AutoDNS. 

Our tech stack is a various and modern one: Kubernetes, Proxmox, Ansible, virtualization. We are also working with services like MySQL / PostGreSQL, MongoDB, Kafka and other technologies.

We work closely with peer teams in Development, Product and Support and others. We are in close collaboration with international teams across the IONOS Group.

Main responsibilities:

• Administration of our Debian Linux server systems, operation of highly available, distributed systems.
• Customizing of complex HA solutions, storage systems and virtualization technologies.
• Administration of Kubernetes.
• Monitoring of server and services.
• Automate system administration tasks and deployments using Ansible, GitLab pipelines, and Kubernetes.
• Support of services for key customers.
• Administration databases, mostly MySQL.
• Leverage automation and CI/CD pipelines to enhance operational efficiency and reliability.
• Participate in a rotating on-call schedule (including nights/weekends) to ensure high availability and incident resolution within agreed SLAs.

We appreciate:

• 4+ years experience working with Linux systems (we use Debian mostly).
• Experience in managing on-premises data center infrastructure.
• Proficiency in configuring and managing web servers like nginx and Apache.
• Experience with KVM and other virtualization technologies (e.g., Proxmox, VMware).
• Experience with MySQL administration, preferably with Percona Cluster.
• Familiarity with load balancing technologies (haproxy, proxySQL) and high availability solutions (pacemaker, heartbeat, keepalived).
• Knowledge of DNS administration using PowerDNS.
• Experience in scripting (e.g. Bash, Python, or Perl) for automation and troubleshooting.

Would be a plus:

• Experience in configuring and maintaining Firewall and VPN solutions, e.g. OpenVPN, PFsense.
• Experience with monitoring tools such as Prometheus, Grafana, or Nagios.
• Experience with backup solutions.
• Experience with networking (Routing, VLANs, BGP).
